How it works
1
Register your interest
Sign up and share details about your land. We assess your eligibility and discuss tailored options to suit your goals.
2
Design your tree system
We collaborate with you and our expert partners to design an optimal tree system for your land. This includes:
Species Selection: Choosing trees best suited to the land and project goals.
Financing Guidance: Exploring funding options and long-term business projections.
3
List your project on the platform
We work with you to define the project’s scope, funding goals, and rewards for backers. Once ready, the project is listed on our platform for a fixed period, where it’s promoted to our network of supporters. Backers pledge funds for trees in the system, earning points they can exchange for rewards.
4
Secure funding and plant
Once the project is successfully funded, we:
Deduct our fee from the total raised.
Transfer initial payments for trees and planting costs to you, the landowner.
Assist in sourcing trees for the project.
5
Monitor, maintain, and reward
You must monitor and document the tree system’s progress over three years to unlock maintenance payments. You must also fulfil any rewards claimed by backers.

-
Yes. Our scheme is independent of SFI.
However, please note the eligibility criteria on the DeepRoots platform are less restrictive than SFI, so your project may not be eligible for SFI even if it receives funding on DeepRoots. For example, this could be because your project has a higher planting density than is allowed by SFI.
-
We preferably work with landowners, however if you are a tenant farmer please get in touch as we can support in working with the landowner on how projects can be structured.
-
All our projects include a buffer to cover the cost of replacing a certain percentage of dead or damaged trees. In collaboration with our insurance partners, we also offer protection for the risk of larger-scale damage due to unforeseen circumstances such as extreme weather.
-
The minimum commitment is 3 years, so there is no obligation under the scheme to maintain the trees after that period, and you may decide to cut the trees down, though you will lose out on the many positive ecosystem benefits that trees bring.
However, we are developing specific incentives under our scheme to motivate long-term tree preservation.
